
WASH Project - Sierra Leone (2019-2021)

In many schools across Sierra Leone, the lack of clean water and gender-specific sanitation facilities has devastating effects— especially for girls. Many are forced to miss school during menstruation or drop out entirely. The result: half of all girls in Sub-Saharan Africa do not finish primary school.
As a club that stands for equal opportunity, inclusion and empowerment, we chose to support the WASH Project by Street Child and World Hope International. Our donations helped build wells, install toilets, and launch school-owned micro-enterprises to ensure long-term impact.
Why it matters: clean water and safe toilets at school are not just basic human rights—they’re a key to education, especially for girls.
Through donations at games, charity runs, auctions, and an 82 km race challenge around Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze, we raised nearly €3,000 for this cause, supporting the financing of the following activities:
